This was an unexpected trip, since our flight out of Minneapolis was delayed due to mechanical issues. Thanks to someone who flies more often than he'd probably like, we were put up in a hotel for a night in New York City awaiting our first class seating to Copenhagen. Score ten points to Beta Dog!!!
To make the best of things, we toured The City for a day. Times Square...
Good grief is it busy here!
We decided that to have the kids experience the most of New York City in a short period of time we'd do what Alpha Dog detests more than anything. We took a bus tour! It was good though because we were off our feet (it was HOT!), Little Dude got to ride on a double decker topless bus, and we got to see nearly every cool site in the city.
Flat Iron building living up to its flatness...
Flatter...
Super flat! The new Freedom Tower, now THIS is huge!!! I bet I was at least a mile away taking this shot. Any closer and you can't fit it into one picture.
Freedom Tower about a block away. What do I have here, twenty stories maybe???
Statue of Liberty...from afar because we had to get back to the airport.
Being at the airport gave us a site as well - Geraldo! He wasn't shy about being photographed and even made his way over to us through the crowded disgusting disaster that is JFK airport to stand nearby us in case we were dying for an autograph or a handshake. We weren't.
First class. "Oh yeah, a kid could get used to this!" Little Dude thought as he kicked back in his cushy, fully lay-down-able seat.
First class was so huge that Munchkin could disappear completely into the storage area in front of her.
The flight attendants provided milk - in a wine glass - for the kids, fancy meal of their choice, and favorite movies for all.
Then lights out and it was just like home.
Some of us weren't quite ready to sleep until they were forced to.
When lights went back on for landing, some of us weren't ready to get up.
But the tray tables and seat backs must go back into their upright and locked positions anyway. This didn't seem to bother Little Dude in the least.
Good bye New York! Hello Copenhagen!
